Volts & Vaults
Our Principles of Engineering students recently completed their electricity unit. As a wrap-up, they were tasked with building a vault that was dead bolted with a solenoid and could be unlocked with the push of a button! The correct voltage and resistance had to be used for their project to be successful!

Our PIVOT students went on a scavenger hunt at Brookshires Grocery Store to find ingredients that they would need to cook a spaghetti dinner. They also went to Sam's Club to explore shopping in bulk. During lunch, a customer at Sam's Club blessed each student with a $2.00 bill! It was a fantastic trip! #PIVOT #BPSTIL

Our #BPSTIL PLTW Engineering students competed to solve a real world problem! They designed farming enclosures to help protect chickens from predators using common mechanisms and Vex robotics electronics. Each team had to present their idea to “investors” and sell them on the their product. These designs were over the top!

Today our fire students observed the Max Fire Box prop to learn about fire behavior and some of the phenomenon that occurs in a room that has caught fire. Some topics covered were fire growth, backdraft, flashover, flow path and the difference between fuel limited and vent limited fires.

BOSSIER SCHOOLS: Parents/Guardians, we want to make you aware that a parish-wide lockdown drill will take place this morning, Friday, September 13 at all schools to practice emergency safety procedures. This is only a drill.

Our PLTW engineering students just completed an incredible Rube Goldberg machine using simple machines and complex mechanisms, and the results are mind-blowing! 🤯 The idea behind a Rube Goldberg machine is to make a simple task complicated. From pulleys and levers to gears and ramps, they turned everyday items into a chain reaction masterpiece that allowed them to close a door and throw away a piece of trash. 🛠️⚙️

Today EMR, Intro to EMT, and Firefighter students participated in the 9/11 Museum and Memorial Anniversary activities to remember and honor our 343 NY Firefighters and others killed in the 9/11 attacks.

The CNA students loved celebrating their favorite
teacher, who happens to be BPSTILS Teacher of the Year.
Mrs. Burns makes learning how to take care of patients and
residents fun and she always gives her students and co-
workers a reason to smile.

We want to give a BIG shout out to our Bossier Parish High School Principal of the Year, Amy Washington! Also, BPSTIL's Teacher of the Year, Shaunda Burns!
