About Auto Tech

The technology in automobiles today is so complex that the average person can no longer repair the problem. The automobile has multiple computers to run all of the functions of the vehicle. In this automotive course, the students will receive training in Maintenance and Light Repair; Engine Repair; Automatic Transmission/Transaxle; Manual Drive Train and Axles; Suspension and Steering; Brakes; Electrical/Electronic Systems; Heating and Air Conditioning; and Engine Performance.

The BPSTIL automotive program is certified by NATEF and AYES, which are industry-recognized certifications. The AYES program allows the students to work in an automobile dealership in the summer between their junior and senior years in school. The students will be able to work their senior year at the same dealership and then complete two years after graduation.

Program Goal:

The purpose of the automotive technology program is to provide specialized classroom instruction and practical shop experience to prepare individuals for employment as entry-level automotive technicians.
