About College Accounting

College Accounting Part I is an introduction to accounting principles and methods for financial data gathering and reporting. At the end of this course, the student will

  • describe the basic principles and terminology used in accounting;
  • record typical business transactions for a proprietorship; and
  • the major components of the financial statements for a proprietorship

College Accounting Part II is an introduction to accounting principles and methods for data gathering and presentation for evaluation and decision-making by management. At the end of this course, the student will

  • record typical business transactions for a corporation;
  • describe the major components of the financial statements for a corporation;
  • apply basic financial statement analytical procedures; and
  • describe the basic uses of accounting information by management.

Both of these courses are requirements of all college students seeking degrees in business including, accounting, finance, marketing, management, and others. Many other fields of study require accounting including some engineering programs.
